Food, friends, family, and cake

The birthday boy!!

Dev had a great 5th birthday party. The best part for him probably was that the slide was delivered at about 10am and party wasn't until 3pm. The boys played on the slide non stop till lunch and nap and then got up and went right back at it. He got alot of great gifts and loved his construction cake. He was really excited about his bike too but the slide was a little more important since it was only at our house for one day. Once the slide got picked up he did ride his new bike and loved it. I didn't get any pics though, those will be another day. Check out some of his birthday fun:
Bryson and I were jumping and I showed him how to do a toe touch! He did a really good job!

Then mom decided to get a pic of mine, it wouldn't of been so bad except it only took her about 30 tries to catch me in the air!!

Then it was her turn to go down the slide with the boys, but no toe touch for her...hee hee!

Dev thought he'd try every way possible to slide down.

Now it was time for my little construction workers to start their jobs!!

First was to hammer some golf tees into a piece of styrofoam.

Then a dumptruck relay and jumping the hurdles.

Jumping through the rings....and ending with a sandbox dig for treasure.

The cake:

He blew out all 5 candles with two big breaths!

I'll post a link later to all the pics if you're interested. I always take way too many pictures, but why not!!

The solution

I have been pretty frustrated with my method of playing my ipod in the car. It's a fm transmitter thing and it is terrible. There are hardly any stations that don't pick up any signal so that I can play the ipod through them. If I do find one then I have to sometimes hold the wire around to keep the song playing without interference. I have downloaded alot of songs for the boys and wanted to be able to play them from my ipod in the car. So today I found my solution at least temporarily......meet my new friend.........my iDog... :})

This little guy will find a new home in my car and will allow me to easily play songs whenever I want and I know the boys will enjoy him. He even barks when the music stops playing. He dances with his head and ears and flashes lights on his face. In fact he's sitting here with me now playing music and dancing while I'm posting. A cute little fix for now.

Tomorrow is the big "Construction Party". D wanted a construction birthday party so that's what we are having. I'm renting a big inflatable slide also for everyone to slide on. We're just having family and our close neighbors. Maybe next year I'll go for the "friend" birthday party, we'll see. Anyway I have some cute things planned and I'm so excited for him to get his new bike! The weather was beautiful today and is supposed to be the same tomorrow. I'm attempting to make and decorate his cake myself. I have found alot of cute ideas online and I'm going to try to combine some of them and come up with my own creation. It should be fun. So far the first part is done, I got the cake out of the pan upside down safely. So next I will ice it and decorate it. I'm going to freeze it first tonight. I read online that someone froze the cake overnight first before frosting and it made it easier to frost. I'm going to try it. The party isn't until 3pm so I will have plenty of time to decorate and I know the cake will be defrosted for sure.

I signed up for the work weight loss contest again. I figure I probably won't win this time since I won't have as much too lose as others possibly could. Although, this will help me with my own motivation to get to my wishing point. Also, I figure with a little extra motivation maybe I could make some people really mad and win two times in a row!!! Wouldn't that be pretty cool....hee hee. The next twelve weeks will be interesting. The contestants will have to endure Halloween, Thanksgiving and early part of December Christmas parties. Wish me luck!! It starts on Monday, yikes!

Remember when

I remember the day, the joyous feelings, the excitement and happiness as if it were today!

On this day 5 years ago we welcomed our first baby boy! He was 10 lbs and 15 oz. and was 23 1/2 inches long. We were overcome with such joy, wonder, amazement and pure love. Today my baby turned 5 years old! Where has the time gone, I think of all the beautiful moments we've had together and the many many more to come in the years ahead. We are blessed to have such a beautiful, sweet, caring, playful, healthy and loving little boy.

THEN:

AND NOW:

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY MY SWEET BOY! I LOVE YOU!

And now for the pics

This is the 3rd park that we went to. It was pretty big! I only took a few pics here because it was drizzly and we didn't stay very long.

The boys loved digging in the sand with daddy's help

This is pics from the 2nd park. B wanted to swing on my lap and then did get in the baby swing, but had no part in swinging by himself in the normal swings.

Daddy didn't know that I caught him in the act of seeing if he still had the muscle for some pull ups.....hee hee! He did do a few.......
The scary part of this is seeing the picture after and seeing how high he got in the air, but loved it!
D is definetely heavier and didn't quite make it as high in the air, but still smiling!

I had a pretty busy day today. First I helped with some stuff at D's school. Then dropped off B at school and ran some errands. Dad came by and took me to this discount grocery store, things were pretty cheap, even the fruit snacks that I just stuffed all the goody bags with! If only a day sooner!! I got some pretty good bargains that's for sure. Then rode to pick up D's birthday bike and got some more party decorations at 50% off, yippee!! Even found some yellow plastic hard hats that were only 49 cents, wow! I needed 6 and they had exactly 6, what are the chances! I'm still gathering ideas for the construction party. I did stop at Home Depot and they gladly gave me four of the kid project aprons!
D had a soccer game tonight and daddy took him while B and I went looking for some curtains that I did not find! He has another game tomorrow night and I think we're going to switch and I'll go to the game and he and B stay home.
Both boys are a little cranky, I am sure hoping that they aren't getting sick!!
More pics tomorrow night hopefully, of the school birthday party, aftercare fashion show and details from the soccer game.

Some great finds

We found two great new parks today. New meaning that we have never been to them. The first is only about 5 minutes from our house. It was alot of fun, the boys had a great time. We left a little earlier than planned though because a large group of girls (prob from a sleepover) about 10 yrs old or so came and almost took over the playground. They didn't do anything to our boys but nervous nelly me didn't want the boys to get knocked down or something. No problem, we wanted to go check out another park about 20 minutes from our house. It was huge and the boys enjoyed it too. D insisted that we had told him we were going to 3 parks. Well we did go to 3 parks but we only got out of the car at 2 of them. The one we didn't get out was really small and the equipment was really for younger kids so we didn't waste our time. The weather was nice and cool. It sprinkled a few rain drops occasionally but never rained on us.
Finished up the laundry and put the goody bags together for D's school party on Tuesday. The boys are getting Cars fruit snacks and the girls are getting Little Mermaid. The boys are getting a parachute man and the girls a Disney princess bracelet. All kids are getting a very small bubbles, fruit drink and goldfish. I did buy a pin the tail on the donkey game for $1 if the teacher will let the kids play. I think it would be pretty cute to watch.
I'll post some of my park pics tomorrow. More important at the moment, I'm headed to get a big bowl of sugarfree Rocky road ice cream.....yes Kelli.....sugar free!! :) Toodles

Shop n play

The first part of the morning D and I spent driving around looking for the perfect cupcakes. We went to several places and couldn't find what we were looking for. We then found some but the place wouldn't split and do part princesses. So, finally we found some and it was perfect. We got 12 that had Superman rings on top and then 6 for the girls with sesame street rings on top. Although, we bought rings at the party store for the girls and are going to replace the sesame street rings with those. We then looked all around for Superman decorations. Not too many places had them, so we headed back to one of the first places we went and got some stuff. We also picked up treats for the goody bags for D's school party. He then decided that he wanted to have a Construction truck party for his home party next Sunday. We also picked up a few decorations for that and I'll work on the rest this week. I have found some really cool ideas online that I might try for the party. Even the adults might enjoy this one. I'm renting an inflatable slide too, so it should be lots of fun for the boys. Meanwhile, Daddy and B went out shopping for D's birthday bike. He ordered it and we'll pick it up on Monday. Probably best so that the little one won't spill the beans.
Later in the afternoon I took the boys to the nearby school playground. This playground didn't have the baby swings so he finally braved it and got on the big swing. He was still alittle scared but did well.

Then a quick lesson from Big brother on how to walk up the slide backwards. It was pretty scary for me watching from the ground. But he did it, and made it all the way to the top, what a big boy.

I think today if the weather holds up we might go to a new park we saw on the news. It's not too far from here and looks pretty fun for the boys. First a little house cleaning while the boys play in the gameroom then maybe we will pack a picnic lunch and head to the park. Of course we'll have to get back fairly soon so Mike can watch football! Have a great Sunday!

Relaxing movie night

I took several pics of D playing soccer but this one turned out the best. Notice the coach telling them to go the OTHER direction!!! But at least they were trying!

This is B playing one of his favorite songs, he especially like to add "wee haw!"

Daddy was gone tonight so mommy and the boys had popcorn and a movie, Charlotte's Web. It's the old fashion one but the boys seemed to really enjoy it. They also really like sitting in their plush chairs up on top of the couches.

I had a great mommy and B day the other day. I did forget my camera though, shame on me. We went by my old work to visit and then spent time at the park. B had a great time and even enjoyed swinging on the swings this time. It was kinda sad though because I am realizing that he too is growing up way too fast!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is hair cut for D and then we are going to go pick out cupcakes and goodies for treat bags for his bday party on Tuesday at school. His birthday isn't until Wed. but I am selfishly having his school party on Tuesday since I'm off and can be there to help celebrate and take some pics. His aftercare program is also having a "fashion show" that day. It should be interesting, the kids are allowed to bring any clothes they want to wear for it, D is trying to decided between his halloween costume from last year or something else. His family birthday party will be on Sunday. We are going to get him a new "big boy bike" He has totally outgrown the one he has now.

The weather has been very nice and cool lately. I hope it continues over the weekend. The fair is in town here (just like yours Susan). We haven't been since we've lived here, but maybe we'll take the boys this time, we'll see.

I've taken a week long break from my healthy eating and exercising, so tomorrow I'm going to try to get back in the swing of things and get working to get the last 10-15 lbs. off. Besides, my friend Kelli suprised me and has lost 26 lbs compared to my 24! I told her that the challenge is ON!! Watch out Kelli!!!! Seriously hopefully we can keep each other motivated to finish out our goals!

Well time to get the boys to bed...toodles.

Fast week

It feels like it has been a whirl wind week. Mike was gone the first three days and I have been going non stop. D had another soccer game and he did really good. This time they only scored 1 goal for the other team and actually scored several for themselves. D mostly keeps on the outside of the "bee swarm" but by the end of the game he was getting in there and trying to kick the ball. He did great! He still loves it and was running around with a big smile the whole time. I just need to get him some much smaller shorts by next game so that his don't end up around his ankles during the game. B wore himself out by running back and forth to the light pole while D was playing his game.....whatever works!! Mom came out and really got a kick out of watching the kids run around after the ball, it definetely is a sight to see!
I asked D what kind of cupcakes he wanted to take to school next week for this birthday. He sweetly told me "hot wheels for the boys and princesses for the girls" He is such a sweetie!! I was so suprised that he said that...so we will do something to that effect. I need to go and see what's available at the bakery and let him decide. But I will definetely get girly ones for the girls in his class! I just love him to pieces!!
Meanwhile, my precious B had a tantrum while literally heading out the door yesterday morning. I thought I was going to have one myself! Mornings are always so hectic to get out the door on time and with Mike gone it was worse. All was going well and we were headed out the door when all of a sudden B thought he broke his own toy...yes you heard right. Well that started it and he started whailing and wouldn't budge out the door. My hands were completely full of all the stuff to take to the car and he was screaming bloody murder. I picked him up kicking and screaming and got him in the car and then his nose started to bleed(this happens fairly often) so I had to run in and grab something so that it wouldn't get all over him. We are already 8 minutes past leaving time and I'm panicking. Finally we head out the driveway with everyone just peachy all of a sudden and it's now 12 minutes past the time we have to leave. Mysteriously we made it to the school just in time. I couldn't believe it! Life wouldn't of ended if we were late once but I just don't want to be late if we can help it.......I probably shouldn't stress so much about it, but I can't help it!
Off to bed....toodles.

$$$ for me!!!!!!!!!

Not only is this show starting it's new season tomorrow night, but YES I AM THE BIGGEST LOSER! At my work that is. They had a 12 week weight challenge and I WON!! 150 buck a roonies too!!! Maybe I'll splurge and use the money totally on me to buy some new winter clothes! Not really.....would be nice though! I'm so excited! I'm not sure how every one else did in comparison yet, since I don't go back to work till Wed. but the girl did email me to tell me I won first place!!! Not sure if I won by a landslide or only a pound. We'll see on Wed. I'll let you know. I sure am interested to see how everyone else did. I had my celebration ice cream cone last night in hopes I might win. Since now I know I won, I must go find some yummy treat for tonight before I continue on my journey...to health!!

Fot those of you that haven't seen the SNL skit with Palin and Clinton, it's a must see! It's hysterical and Tina Fey is identical to Palin, I couldn't believe it. If I figure out how to get fancy I might try to get it on here tomorrow. Otherwise go to NBC.com and check it out. I tried utube earlier and I think NBC is trying to block copies. I honestly am not very political but this skit was great! Toodles.

School car project

Here's the cars...too cute!
You can refer to the post below for more details.

First game and other stuff

D had his first soccer game the other night. I was trying to get a few pregame shots of B and this is how he wanted his pic taken, so here you go!! I tried another but he held his cookie container in front of his face for that one.

It was hysterical because all of the kids uniforms were totally oversized, I'm not sure who they thought were playing but my bean pole could of used a x-small that's for sure!
This pic is from the pregame warm up. I didn't get many during the game for two reasons. #1 I was too busy watching the game to take pics this time and #2 I don't think he would of been visible in the "bee swarm" of kids chasing the ball around. He had a great time though, I think he had a huge grin on his face the ENTIRE game! He played almost the whole game until the last break period. I was glad because he was dripping sweat and you could tell he was tired. I think his team scored about 5 goals for the OTHER team! It was the cutest to watch. B did excellent too, sitting on the sidelines watching big bro play.
D had a school project to make a "soap box derby" type car project. We used a small shoebox and had two Chuck E Cheese drivers. D did most of the decorating and daddy helped make the wing for the back.

I thought we did a pretty good job and tried to let him do most of the work. You should of seen some of the other cars done by the kids in his class. Wow , it was pretty neat. I took some pics and made a simple photo collage to send home for the other parents to see. I make that it's own post so you can click to enlarge the pic and see the cars. Pretty neat.
Had a stomach virus most of the weekend. YUK! I'm hoping that it's ending today! I tried to eat yesterday and paid for it, so I'm gonna just pick a little today and try to build back up to eating normal food. I hope this is the last day!
Went to D's school this morning and read 2 books to his class in Library. It was so fun and the kids were so cute! I love to hear what the kids say, it's so adorable! D was excited I was there, so that made me happy too! Last week when he brought home his first library book, we started to read it before bedtime. I started to read and he interrupted me...."mommy!! Who is it written and illustrated by??!!" Oh....well excuse me.....I just had to laugh. I was glad to know he has been listening to his Library teacher. So from now on, we always state who the book is written and illustrated by. I made sure to tell the class today also, and then the kids made sure I knew that illustrated meant that person drew the pictures! So smart! The kids were so much fun.
I'm going back today to help relieve the teachers for lunch. I help watch the kids and help them eat their lunch so that the teacher's can have a break. It's really easy and it helps the teachers. I have done it once already so this time I'll know just what to do. I have two other mothers signed up to help on other days also. It's something they do at the school if parents are able. It's just to relieve the teachers once a week so that they can go and eat their lunch in peace. I thought it's a great idea. D's teachers aide told me that no one was able to relieve them last year. Hopefully this year there will be a few other parents that are able to help.
Having a B and Mommy day tomorrow. I'm excited. I'm not sure what we're going to do yet. I'm looking forward to it. I did quite a few with D when he was this age and B was still a baby. Now it's B turn....a day out of school to spend having fun with mommy.....love it!!
toodles
