Too fast

The weekend went  by way too fast!! Mom and Jen came for a weekend visit. We had a great time. We even spent some time playing games, and Dev kept beating us at Scrabble Slam! It's fun that the boys are getting old enough to play and not get mad at losing. Well...Bry isn't quite there yet but he's getting close.

We went for a little shopping trip and took a pic at what is becoming the photo op spot...LOL

Gotta love the photo booth. Dev really wanted to do it, but kept sliding out of the pic. I LOVE the funny face pics!! The quality isn't too great because I took pics  of the pics but you get the idea.

We had a girls dinner night out to celebrate Mom's birthday. It was a good time. Of course we did a little shopping before dinner. We also spent the morning walking around the mall with the boys. They have been wanting some baseball hats for several weeks. I finally found them the ones they wanted...well they have been wearing them ever since!  :-)

Mom enjoyed her pancake tower for her birthday breakfast!

Helping the boys build a jumping ramp for the monster trucks.

Helping Bry try out the accordion!

We've been having rain almost every afternoon! But, it's been too hot to go outside anyway.

Dev had a tooth pulled by the dentist last weekend because part of it had broken. This was a baby molar that had already broken and been repaired once. Well...go figure the tooth fairy forgot...shame, shame!! But a rescue happened. Even though the tooth fairy didn't leave anything in the special tooth basket, she did leave  Dev something in his mailbox. Both boys have little mailboxes in their rooms that I occasionally put treats in and put the flag up for them to find.

the big question though was why did the tooth fairy not take the tooth??? I was at a loss and then Bry jumped in to unknowingly save the day!! "She only takes the good teeth!"   Ah........yes that's right!! I explained that the tooth fairy didn't take this one because it was broken and that she had taken all the previous teeth because they were good teeth. whew.....rescue successful!!! lol!

Stopped at goodwill today after picking up the boys. They  picked out a DVD documentary movie about planes. Well....let me say, they have been intently watching this movie from the start. I'm a little surprised it has kept their attention this long, wow....they really love learning about planes!! Very nice!

Salmon for dinner tonight. yum! Finally got our deep freezer cleaned and running since our move. I made a trip to Sam's to start to fill it up. So many yummy things were at Sam's I had to stay focused! So, I did get some salmon that Mike will cook tonight on a wooden plank on the grill with some brown sugar and honey glaze...oh yeah! yummy!!

Well I think that's all  I have for now.Toodles.

UPDATE!

Ha, well no wonder they were watching the movie so intently!! Take a look at what I found when I finished typing my blog update...LOL...I guess it was a little interesting..ha ha

Stranded

I will be home with the kiddos tomorrow all day and without a car. Hubby's car is having car trouble again...double ugh!!!...so he will have my car for the day. Looks like I'll be putting the boys to work cleaning the entire house. yay...helpers are always welcome to help me clean. But, I'm hoping we can get the boring stuff done early and then have play time for the rest of the day. Maybe we'll make some forts, build some huge lego creations and get creative with food in the pantry.
I hope to start the day with a run. I will decide after I see how it feels outside if I will run outside or on the treadmill. I do enjoy the outside much better and it's sometimes helpful with the boys in tow. They usually ride their bikes along side me when I do a 2 or 3 mile run and stay on our street. I am usually distracted watching out for traffic for them, telling them not to run into each other and telling them yes one more time down this street...LOL. Then maybe weather dependent we can take a bike ride.  The boys love riding their bikes in the neighborhood across from us. It has more streets, and a few little ponds that we sometimes see geese or ducks. Plus I finally got a new bike helmet to wear instead of wearing my approx 12 yr old one that probably wouldn't even protect my head if I fell. Oh yeah, speaking of biking, not sure if anyone is watching Tour De France. We are since Mike has been biking alot lately; Can you believe someone threw tacks on the bike path?!! Wow, that is just plain terrible!! I think there were like 48 flat tires or something like that. Pure evil!
Got Dev his triathlon swim speedos today. Wow, he sure is tall and thin and these definitely show it!! These are not the bikini speedos by the way...LOL....these go to his knees. They look like biking shorts, these will be so much better for him leaving the pool to bike and run in instead of those other super baggie swim shorts. He was so excited and wore them for most of the evening. He was excited to have shorts on like Daddy. Oh yeah..by the way. The triathlon is being put on by an LSU women's triathlon group. When Dev was at swim clinic they were taking some video for a commercial to promote exercise to fight against childhood obesity. The videographer had kids read signs for the video like " Mom, you inspire me." and " Mom you are my hero." I thought that was sooooo sweet!!  They have two triathlons a year for women. One in April and one in July. I think I'll try the April first. It's like a 350m swim (7 laps in Olympic pool) 8 miles bike and 2 mile run. I'm not worried at all about the bike and run, but I will need lots of training and practice in the pool. wow....that is a long pool to do 7 laps!!!!!!!!
Well time to go and tuck the boys into bed. Yay...glad I'm off tomorrow and get to sleep in. Well at least till 630 or 7 that is. That is sleeping in for my house. :-) Toodles.

Manic Monday

Well it was a pretty typical Monday. Nothing really bad or unusual, just the fact it's Monday right?!  Boys started their new camp for the rest of the summer. Their other camp is done for the summer, they really loved it so we'll be going back next year.
Had a productive afternoon after picking up the boys. Fixed snacks for the boys, then pulled weeds, cut the backyard, swept the front driveway, cleaned and straightened the garage, swept garage, showered, put dishes in dishwasher and cooked dinner...whew...no wonder I'm drinking a glass of wine now...LOL!!
I saw two different birds in my backyard today. It makes me really miss having a bird feeder to bird watch. Maybe this weekend I'll get one to hang up.
Did I mention Dev is doing a kids triathlon the end of this month! yay! We went to a swim clinic this past Sunday to see if he could swim the distance since he's not a super great swimmer. Let me just say  I am so proud of him!! He did great! He has to swim 2 lengths of an olympic size pool! wow, he really can't even swim breast stroke yet. He chugged it out though, he got very tired but added in doggie paddle and even swimming on his back just kicking to get the distance done. He did this whole swim twice during the practice. I AM SO PROUD OF HIM!! He didn't quit, give up, complain or anything!! So proud! He knows now that he can swim the distance so it's no big deal. I hope to get him to the pool a few times before the race to practice. The triathlon will be a 100m swim, 2 mile bike ride and .6 mile run. Bry didn't want to do it this time, maybe next year. I'll keep you posted and I'll of course post pics of the race!!
The boys have really grown so far this summer. They both have grown 2 inches taller since April! wow!! That is alot and the summer isn't even over! It won't be long before they are taller than me!!
Mom and sis are coming for a visit this weekend. yay! I hope the weather is nice while they are here. I might have to try out a new recipe on them...LOL.
Well toodles for now.

I know I know

yes it's been a very long time, I know!! Ha!! This is for you Mom!! Per your request to type a little something finally so the next time you check....HELLO!!! Things are going well in our new home. The summer has been very busy and very fun. I can't believe there are only 3 1/2 weeks left to our summer vacation. Well the boys vacation really, since I'm working 3 days a week now. But looking forward to having a few days off with them the next few weeks. Looking forward to a few trips to the park, out to lunch, the city pool and wherever else our car takes us  :-)
I've been trying out new recipes on Pinterest lately and they are turning out really good. I made a great peanut butter banana bread. It was really good, except on about day 3 when I got to the middle of the loaf, it wasn't fully cooked in the middle. oops. I thought I had checked that. So I threw it out because I didn't want to eat any possible bacteria. But I will make it again. I will just make two breads or buy a bigger pan or something.
Today has been a nice lazy day. Been playing UNO for several hours with Dev. It's so nice that now he can play a game and not cry, pout, whine, or stomp off if he loses...yay!!!
Tomorrow I'm taking Dev to a swim clinic to practice for his upcoming kids triathlon. I'm very excited that he is even interested in doing it. He will swim, bike and run just like a triathlon just shorter distances of course. He is a little unsure about the swimming part so I'm hoping the class tomorrow will help him get rid of that fear.
I can't believe that next month will be our 15th wedding anniversary! wow how time flies!! We were planning to take a weekend trip just us grown ups but we've changed our mind. If we do anything it might be a family short weekend getaway we'll see.

Well I think  that's about all for now. We'll see if I can get back on here in less than a week...ha ha.. Homemade grilled burgers for dinner tonight with fries and baked beans...yum! Even splurged with some ice cream in the freezer for dessert....yay!
