What great boys I have
Tuesday, June 3, 2008
A little of this and that
Today the boys had waterslide day at their school. D was so excited he could hardly get his breakfast eaten, clothes on, teeth brushed and he was hurrying me to get out the door. His class had such a great time. I might just have to rent this one for a party. I really like that the end pool wasn't very deep and most kids didn't even go under water. When B's class came out he was very excited but he wouldn't slide down. It was kinda intimidating for people his size! I wished I could of stayed longer and try to coax him down but I had to head to my dental appt. I told the girls to try to get a pic if he slides down.
I decided to get the less obvious porcelain ones on top and the metal ones on bottom. I still can't believe I have them on! Not too attractive, but not too bad either (according to my hubby). He's probably just trying to make me feel better about them. Such a sweetie! Of course the only reason I even went ahead with all this is because one of the two baby teeth on my bottom row is loose. Therefore I don't want it to fall out since I know it's loose. Otherwise if I didn't know it was loose, honestly I would not be going through this right now. But since I do know.....might as well get it taken care of. Blah!!
Well that's all my excitement for now. I'm going to go take another Ibuprofen to head off any discomfort and try to find something liquid to snack on.

New do
Well time for a new do. Thought I'd do a slight color change for fun. Might as well to go with my braces on Tuesday. It's not too drastic but it is noticeable. I actually like it. I bought the color that washes out after about 2 weeks incase it turned purple or something. I think I might go back and get the permanent when this fades. I'm actually liking the slightly red-brown tint. Something different.....why not!

Outdoor shower
Worked on B's scrapbook yesterday. Yippee! I am now up to about 9 months. I only have 3 more months to go and I've finished his 1 yr. baby book. Wow...about time! He's only going to be 3 yrs old in 5 months!! :) Better late than never though.
1..............2.......................3!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right B has pee pee'd in the potty 3 times now!!! whoo hoo!! They have all been when he's gotten up in the morning. I am so excited. 2 of the times he told me he wanted to go potty! We tried some throughout the daytime over the weekend but he didn't want to. So this am I asked him if he wanted to potty and he said no. Then a few minutes later he told me he needed to potty. He sat on the small potty chair in the den (he likes to sit and watch cartoons) and a minute or so later he announced he " pee pee in the potty" Of course we shouted, chanted, swung him around in the air and made a great spectacle of the event. I think we are starting to make progress!! I can't wait to be done with the pull ups!!
Happy that So You Think You Can Dance is back on. I really like that show, but similarly to AI I don't really care for all the outakes and horrible dancers that they show first few episodes. Thanks to tivo I just skip all the stupidness and watch what I want. I can't wait till they get down to the real dancers.
Guess that's about all I have for now.

Weekly recap....long post ahead
Mon.- spent most of the day cleaning, some painting and doing a little of this and that. Mom came by off from work early and we left to get the boys from school. On the way I got a flat tire! What!!?? I just bought 4 NEW tires only about 3 weeks ago. It must be a mistake with the sensor in the car. We pull into the school and sure 'nuff! Tire was almost completely flat!! Hubby was out of town too....luckily the school director and another staff member graciously changed my flat in less than 10 minutes...wow I was impressed. D was not happy that I didn't come in to get him out of school to watch the tire being changed. None the less...he was kinda happy to know that "mommy popped a tire" like Lightning McQueen. Mommy wasn't happy though. So off we go to the tire place where we bought the 4 NEW tires and NOT the road hazard insurance that would cover replacement...of course not. Whatever was in my tire was a big piece of metal. So when they took the tire off to see if they could patch it, it was actually a house key stuck in my tire with the long part poked right in the center and the head of the key embedded in the treads....a pretty large hole!! I couldn't believe it!! What are the chances....I didn't have my camera with me of course but it was a sight to see. Of course it wasn't patchable and we had to buy another whole new tire.....super bummer!!
Our friends that were coming in for the holiday weekend called to cancel. They are having major car issues and won't be able to make it. I'm pretty sad about that. But so it goes.
I also was feeling pretty miserable. My sinuses were driving me crazy and my eyes were itchy, my nose running constantly and just felt yucky. D had a tball game at 7pm. Mom stayed home with B and I took D to the game. He did pretty good and paid attention fairly well this time. But I just felt horrible and it probably didn't help being outside with all the pollen floating around. After the game, I put the boys to bed and I followed to bed myself. I didn't sleep well though with constant coughing. Even with 2 benadryl on board.
Tuesday: I woke up feeling still sick. I took the boys to school and came home and got back in the bed. I only got up at 11:45 to run up to get my haircut. I felt terrible but my hairdresser was going out for surgery in 2 days and this was her only open appt. I sniffled through it and headed home to get back in bed. Slept all day until I had to get up about 3pm to head off to my orthodondist appt. Dental yuks!! I get there and feeling miserable they tell me that they lost my xray and had to take another...(.typical for my week so far) I said fine...whatever. I really didn't care I just wanted to get it over with and get home back to bed. Later we discovered that somehow they confused my last name and that was why they couldn't find the xray. They did find it after all, which was good I guess but now they just get two.
So yes I was at the orthodontist. Turns out that I still have 3 baby teeth and one of them is loose! I also have permanent teeth under all of them which is apprarently fairly rare. So options were fairly limited, but good overall according to them. As much as I don't or didn't want to proceed, it's better than the alternative. I don't want to be walking around without a tooth!! That would be a disaster!! So I opted for the other horrible scenario. Step 1: get braces. I have to say that this news was most disturbing to me! I just cried and cried when he told me. I have straight teeth, never needed braces and now you're telling me that I have to wear them....what.......are you kidding me.......!! I obviously wanted to know other options. Like maybe a dental implant or something. Well as I researched and found out. That would involve drilling a hole in my jaw bone and I was NOT about to do that!!! The braces are to spread out my already straight teeth to make room for the bigger permanent teeth! Sounds really wierd, but makes sense at the same time. Step 2: pull the baby teeth out and start to pull the permanent teeth in slowly over time with a chain attached to the braces.. sounds like torture!! This whole process will probably take about 2 years! I have done alot of thinking and as much as I don't want to do this...I really don't want to wait until the tooth or other 2 fall out and then I have to start the process from there. The situation to fix it would be the same and I'd just be starting out later and also starting out with a tooth missing....horrifying!! So............with many tears and reluctance I have decided to go ahead and start the process. I might as well do it now versus waiting and only prolonging the inevitable! It's terrible for me! I hate the dentist! I'm worried about what the outcome will be. I have straight teeth now already...will the other teeth fit in properly and will they look ok. Will my smile be different? These are all questions that he has assured me will all have a postive outcome. Of course he's positive, he's getting the money right!! I know....oh well. I'm just gonna go ahead and start the torture on June 3rd.
Wednesday: Still feeling terribly and could hardly sleep at all. Checked my temp and it was a low grade 100. I was not about to go to work feeling like this. So I called in sick. I headed to the doctors office when they opened and luckily they could see me. Strep test: negative. Chest xray: negative. But my white blood cell count was high. He said fighting off an infection, probably my sinuses. So I got my trustly shot in the booty (sinus cocktail I've had quite a few times before) and a script for some antibiotics, cough syrup and some samples of antihistamines to take. Amazing how some real drugs can make you feel better almost immediately. I slept the rest of the day away. note:Hubby out of town again.
Thursday: Slept pretty good last night myself with all the new meds on board. D though coughed most of the night. I did all my little tricks of humidifier, vicks rub and then even some cough syrup. He managed to get a little sleep but I felt like he was headed down my same path of sickness. I called Dad to see if he could come by and take him to the dr and then to school if he's not too sick. So I wouldn't have to call in again to work. He graciously agreed. Turns out he didn't get any antibiotics (which dr. mom thinks he needs) but he did get some of the "crazy" albuterol syrup. This is the same stuff that made him run circles around our living room for hours. That was a few years ago though and we opted for the inhaler last time he needed it. So we'll try this out and see how he reacts. So far after two doses he seems to be not reacting as strongly and hyper as before. I'm feeling better with still a residual cough and sinus drainage but much better than yesterday.
Our friend Doug arrived in town for his business/personal visit. The boys spent the early evening outside playing bball and driving the remote control cars. He's a friend of my husbands from way back. He was even the best man at our wedding. Boy how time flies!! We all have kids now and are getting old....too funny!
B was walking around in the kitchen and walked right into the side of our counter top. Immediately a dime size goose egg came up on the side of his head. Poor thing!! He was crying and I felt so bad for him. He was a big boy and tried to hold the ice on his head to help the swelling. I tried to take a pic (crazy I know) but his curly locks prevented a good picture of the goose egg. D kept wanting to see the "egg" It was so funny. I think he was taking us literally! But as soon as the boys started talking about going outside B was amazing all better. I was worried but he seemed to be alright. The goose egg has went down almost all the way this morning..thank goodness. I checked on him several times last night to make sure he was ok when he was sleeping.
Friday: D didn't cough quite as much last night and even slept in a little this morning. Maybe his meds are working a little too. ( I still think he needs antibiotics for his sinuses). I am progressively getting better and starting to get rid of this crud I have. Tonight D has taekwando testing for his next belt level. He is really excited about his new belt! He does really well in class when he's paying attention! We're trying to work on his attention span. He seems to get bored real easy and starts to be the class clown...uh oh! Hope it's just a phase! Headed over to see my sweet niece in the morning. Tim and Amanda have invited us over for a breakfast! Hope the weather is not rainy and we can just walk! I really like that! We don't have any real plans for this weekend now that our company cancelled. Doug leaves tomorrow am. I think we might just hang out and relax....whew! What a week!! Maybe a little grilling and hanging out in the yard. Supposed to be in the 90's. I bought a new sprinkler for the boys. The weather should be great for it! Guess that's all for now. Alot happening around here in a short time, at least it seemed that way. Happy Friday to all! Maybe a margarita tonight and a Rock Band lesson for Doug. He's never played...should be a blast!
Thanks to Mom and Dad for all the help this week. Couldn't of done it without your help! It's such a blessing to have family close by!
Toodles.

Cousins and Tball
Here are a few pics from tball in the yard yesterday. Both boys did really well! B even was doing good like his big brother! Today is a beautiful day and we've spent most of it outside this morning. Playing in the dirt, riding bikes and watering the flowers. The boys love to help water my flowers with their own watering cans. Naptime now for the boys so I'm bloggin just a little and then some house chores to work on.

Mother's Day gifts
For Mother's day I created a scrapbook just for mom. I took photos from her childhood, my sister and I as kids and then her with her grandsons. The book turned out really well. This is just a few of the pages I put in it. Some of the pages have been edited for privacy purposes. She really enjoyed it!
I had a great Mother's Day also. My husband let me sleep in. That means about 7:30am. I usually am up on weekends at or before 6:30am. The boys have internal alarm clocks set between 6 and 6:30am. I just couldn't get myself to sleep past 7:30am. Pitifull I know but I guess my internal clock is set also. The boys had picked out wonderful gifts for their mommy. A beautiful basket of faux flowers. Really great because they won't die. Also a basket of goodies: space saver bags, a scented candle, some "hollywood" sunglasses (as I call them :) ), some great hot pink shoes "pink daddy because it's for girls", a beautiful turquoise necklace. I loved all my gifts! The boys kept saying Happy Mother's day all day. Mom gave me some real flowers and a basket of goodies also: Bloody Mary mix with a pitcher and glasses, a photo frame, and a disposable camera that the boys took over. Also I can't find it right now....not sure where they left it! They were taking pics of everything. I'll have to get it developed....once I find it. Thanks for all my great gifts.
We had dinner with mom and Tim and Amanda joined us for her first Mother's day. I made a Strawberry Cake that a friend gave me the recipe to. It was the first time I've made it and it was really good. It was also easy to make which is always a plus!! I'll post the recipe later this week for any who'd like to try it. Baby A is getting so big and animated. She's starting to coo and smiles when you act silly! She was so cute!! Of course I took pics and the boys wanted to join in. I'll post them another time. D was keeping A entertained and B kept rubbing her belly and legs. So very cute!! Just noticed that we are only missing the letter "C" :) I guess their next baby's name should start with "C" hee hee!
Busy week this week. Cleaning and organizing to have a big garage sale soon. We have two sets of company coming in two weeks. I'm also trying to finish some projects around the house. I had two dental appts. on Tuesday. yuk! Eventually I'll post about that.....It'll be a long one. Maybe next week after my next dental appt....stay tuned! Hint....it's gonna be about a 2 yr. ordeal....yuk!
Still working on B's potty training. He keeps sitting on the potty but no results. Maybe this weekend we'll see progress!! I'm happy he's wanting to sit on the potty. That's a good sign and he doesn't like the dirty diapers on him at all. We might be getting closer!!
Also love this menu planner that I found when lurking today.

I'm going to start planning meals for the week again and this will work perfectly. I can fill it out on Sunday, do my grocery shopping and there won't be any guesswork of what's going to be for dinner each night. One less stress! The great thing is that my boys aren't very picky eaters. Thank goodness! They will pretty much eat whatever we do only with some occasional coaxing to eat for the "after dinner special treat". Last night they ate grilled pork chops, white rice(we didn't have any brown rice left), and some carrots and peas. I was so proud of them! I didn't even have to coax them at all! The "after dinner special treat" last night was an ice cream bar for D and some cherry Elmo applesauce for B. I hope the good eating continues as they get older! They even ate my Turkey meatloaf and onion baked potatoes I cooked on Mother's day. They didn't like the broccoli salad even though they do like broccoli, but the cooked kind, not raw. The turkey meatloaf is another recipe I'll have to post. It was easy too and tasted great! Maybe this weekend I'll post several recipes we've tried lately if you're looking for something new to try!

Potty attempt
He kept trying and trying:
He then played telescope:
Then it was like he had a cast on his arm:
And finally with no results we decided to put the pullup on. No potty today:
But of course about 30 minutes later or so.......the pull up was full and needed to be changed. I'll try again tomorrow and the next day and next day. I have to say that with D we kept trying and trying and he wouldn't go on the potty. Then it seemed like overnight he started using it and never looked back and with only 1 or 2 pee accidents, but no poo ones. So I keep hoping the same will happen here too.
B also did some singing while we were in the bathroom. He even agreed to do it on camera. I was shocked.

Morning Sweetness
Retake Tball pics tonight. A few weekends ago we got up nice and early and headed to get team tball pics (indoors because it had rained). Well about a week later we got an email that said something happened to the pics and we have to retake them. ugh! I was talking to a girl at work who's son plays ball on a different team in the city and the same thing happened to them and they have to do retakes also. I don't know if it's the same company, but kinda ironic. What's wierd to me is that in this digital age i don't know why they had this apparent mishap. Oh well, I'm sure they (the photographers) aren't too happy either whatever happened. So anyway we have retakes tonight with a short practice afterwards. I think B and I will stay home while daddy takes D. We might do some painting, play doh or some other fun craft for a little one on one time.
Weather dependent the boys might get to go camping this weekend with Daddy and their Uncle Tim. Although, it seems everytime they try to plan a trip the weather doesn't cooperate. I am on call this weekend so I won't be joining them if they go. I have some house to do projects I can work on with an empty house.
I have started to repaint some of the walls of our house. It has the plain builder grade paint and it doesn't clean well. Of course with two boys, i need easily cleanable paint. I am repainting the same color but with a better quality paint and a different finish that will clean better. The few areas that I have started already look so much better!! I might try to work on B's scrapbook some more also. I got some cute layout ideas from some websites that I'd like to try. My creative mind is lacking lately for layouts.
Hope to have a Mother's day cookout on Sunday with lots of yummy food. I think i'll make some of my fav snacks and dishes that I haven't made in awhile. I might even make something extra special for Mom, myself and Amanda (the newest mom!) My mother in law won't be here so we'll have to make her a special treat next time she visits!
HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION! (Kelli) and to all those teachers out there! I sent the boys to school with some small treats for the teachers. A Mounds candy bar and some Extra gum. A thank you card that says "Thank you for going the Extra mile with all the Mounds of work you do." I can't remember the site I found this on but I thought it was a cute and simple idea. For the director and assist director I put three small 100 calorie Kudos snack bars. "Kudos for all you do!" By the way the Kudos were delicious! I had one extra left in the box so of course I had to try it. It was the snickers flavor and it was sooooo good. Perfect for a sweet snack and only about 100 calories. (Just don't eat the whole box :) )I just wrapped them in tissue paper with some curly ribbon and away we went. I think I only spent about 10 dollars total for the 9 teachers. Not too bad I say! I already had the paper and ribbon so that helped alot! Just a small something to say thank you to the teachers for doing such a great job!
If I don't post again this weekend :

Our Sunday day trip
We decided at the spur of the moment Sunday morning to take a day trip. We headed over to Hot Springs. The weather was beautiful. We drove through the National Park and went to the top of the lookout tower. The view was great because the skies were so clear. We then walked the main street and toured a restored Bath house. It was very interesting. We didn't get to tour the others on Bath house row because they were closing early for a local fundraising event. Nonetheless we had a great time. We also got to touch some water from one of the Hot Springs. It was pretty hot. I read online that the water was 143 F naturally. Pretty neat. You could see the steam rising from the spring. We then stopped at Mickey D's for an ice cream cone before we headed back home.
It was a nice change of scenery and an interesting trip for the day. We'd like to go back another day and check out the lakes and camping/park areas.
That's about it for now. Have a great evening.

Time for a change
Flashback 1 yr ago
Aha!! it worked. So now I think I've figured it out. Anyway this is a very cute comic that I found on a blog that I lurk. To all you parents out there....this comic is for you! Yes you can click on it to enlarge it.Here's a flashback to my post last year on May 1st. Check it out here. For those of you that were reading then you'll remember this. For any new readers...this was horrifying!! You can also read the story of this event here. It was quite an evening that's for sure!!
