Birthday recap

I tried my best at the Spiderman cake. I think it turned out good. My characters were larger than life compared to my building, but oh well!!

These mini Fruit Jack O Lanterns turned out cute. You just scrap out the orange inside and then refill with fruit. It was time consuming though.

My sausage casserole turned into a Spooky graveyard.

This Crab Quiche was great. I had never made it before and we all loved it. I'll post this recipe later minus the spiders.

I also really like the stuffed jalapeno peppers. They turned out great and were easy to make.

Stuffed mushrooms became Goblin eyes (they were great according to everyone) I don't eat mushrooms but made them for everyone else. I'll post the recipe later this week.

My happy 3 yr old!!

Bucky was lighting the candles while we sang Happy birthday to B.
When it was time to blow them out he refused. He just stood there and held his nose, he knew they would be stinky after they were blown out....too smart.....D blew them out for him.

Then it was time for presents.

His brand new smokin' big wheel in candy apple red......go B go!!

We had Spiderman face hats to wear but forgot all about them. It was a great birthday brunch and B was very happy to enjoy such a creative Halloween breakfast and get some great gifts. Thanks everyone for the gifts and we wish you could of been here Mimi and Gran J!!

Flashback to Thursday

Last Thursday D's preK had a pumpkin carving night at the school. Before we headed out I made mummy dogs for the boys. They were suprised and loved them!!

Both boys did help clean out their pumpkins but only with spoons, neither wanted to dig in with just their hands.

Daddy helped D and I helped Bry with his. One of the other dads brought a drill to poke holes.

He was very proud of his pumpkin!

What a happy ending for B with a Superman flight while D's class was taking a group pic.

The boys had a great time on Friday night at the parent's night out. When we got there at almost midnight to pick them up they were wide awake but fell asleep quickly on the way home. B's birthday brunch was great and I'll be back soon with pics from that and our busy day yesterday. Toodles.

sneeky peeky

I have been compiling my menu for the birthday brunch and making my grocery list. I decided that I would have styrofoam cups for the guests and decorate them to follow along to the Halloweenish theme. I'm not a very good artist, but I still think they turned out pretty cute!! The beverage choices will be Witches stew(coffee) or Worm Guts (Orange sherbet punch) and of course Ghost soup (milk).
Off to bed now.

A few pics and my weekly update

Here's a piece of cotton that we "borrowed" from the farmer's field :') The boys enjoyed feeling how soft it was.

Cotton, cotton everywhere!

Gran J made the boys very happy when he jumped on the scooter and rode up the driveway with them.

D thought it was neat to touch the corn that came right off the stalk.

I was suprised that he fed the animals this time at the petting zoo. He wasn't as scared as the last time he was at a petting zoo.

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch. D was so excited just to ride the school bus. He immediately wanted to know where the seatbelts were.(pat pat on mom and dad's back) :)
I took B to his trial gymnastics class the other night. He did great, he even did a better cartwheel attempt then others in his class who have been going there. I wasn't as impressed though with the school as the other class I took him too. This school seems more regimented and almost "factory" type for gymnasts. The other school was more for fun and incorporated alot of other fun things for the kids. I think I'll prob take him back to the other school and join. Then, once he starts getting to his olympic potential we'll go back to the factory....
Mike's dad is doing much better with his stomach issues and headed back home today. The boys were happy to get to spend some extra time with him and ride in the driveway like in the pic above.
I am busy this week planning B's birthday party. Because of scheduling issues I have moved the party from Sunday afternoon to Sat. morning for a birthday brunch. I am going to still incorporate the Halloween and Spiderman theme and I think it will turn out nice. But I still have quite a bit of stuff to do and checklist all of my needed supplies and food.
Tomorrow night we are going to D's school for a pumpkin carving party for the preK. We will have to stop after school and buy our pumpkins first.
Friday night is parents night out and the boys are very excited. The daycare is doing goodie bags, pizza, carnival games, a movie and snacks and they get to bring their Halloween costume. I think we are going to spend the evening getting a bite to eat out and then I'll probably finish the evening getting ready for the birthday brunch. I am going to attempt a spiderman cake that I saw online. It was adorable and I think I might just can make it. At least I am going to try. I know it will early in the morning but I'm prepared to send cake plates home with everyone if they don't want cake that early.....but hey.....why not!!! I bought the boys some spider goblets to drink out of and some silly string to play like spiderman webslinging.
We have a busy day planned on Sat. After the birthday brunch D has been invited to a birthday party that we just found out about. B is allowed to tag along and go to the inflatable jump place with him for the party. He will probably think it's part of his party and it will work out good...hee hee. Later in the afternoon we will be headed to my friends for a bonfire. She has been having them yearly at Halloween and this year she's added a few extras. It will be a great time. I"m not sure if Mike will done with his remote control races by then but I'm going anyway and taking the boys. I might even convince granny to tag along for the long ride!
Well that's about all for now. Not sure if I'll be back before the party, with lots of things to do till then. My baby will be 3 yrs old and I can't believe it!!!!! He is such a sweetie pie!! My sweetie pie pie!!

WHEW!!!!!

It's been a whirlwind weekend!!!!! Friday started with B having an eye infection that needed eye drops and couldn't go to school on Fri. Thanks Mom for keeping him at the last minute!! D went to B's school for the day because his school was out for teacher/parent conferences. He got great grades by the way for a preK kid!!! The teacher said he's doing great!
My friends from STL were in town for a wedding shower and I was on my way to meet them for some dinner and drinks Friday night when my beeper went off. That figures!!!!!!! I did get to meet them for just a little bit after my work. Sat. morning was the day I was going to hang out with the girls and have an overnighter for the wedding shower about 1 1/2 hours away. I did get to go but Mike's dad who is in town to visit wasn't feeling well with stomach issues. I did get to hang out with the girls and have a great time. The shower was for my friend's daughter who is getting married in December. I took lots of pics and I'm going to put together a little scrapbook for her from the shower. I'm looking forward to that. Then on Sunday morning Mike called me and said he needed to take his dad to the ER. My mom helped out again watching the boys until I was able to get back in town. I didn't drive so I was a little at my friends' mercy, but the boys were in good hands and we got back in town and I picked the boys up. We did stop along the way at a cotton field and I took a few pics and even grabbed a piece of cotton to bring home for the boys. I hadn't even been home prob 2 hours when my beeper went off again!!! Darn!! Mike was still at the hospital and had to leave to come home so he could watch the boys while I went in to work. I guess on a positive note, my call in's gave me money to pay for what I spent this weekend, that's a good thing! :)
B is doing better with his eye. He just doesn't like the eye drops. We have 5 more days of those...yuk!! He is getting used to them though.
D's pumpkin patch field trip was today. I was happy because of the two reschedules due to rain that I got to go this time! The kids were all great and had a great time. D got to ride a pony, pick his pumpkin, go through a corn maze, visit the petting zoo and even watch a pig race. It was a good day and we had fabulous weather!! WHEW!
That's the last couple days around here! Good thing that I've already finished all my school Halloween goody bags and decorations for B's bday party this weekend.
I'm also taking Bry to a trial gymnastics class tonight. He's as limber as gumby and I think he will enjoy it, once he lets go of my leg :) D also has a soccer game tonight. Finally! The last two were cancelled due to rain.
Well, that's all for now. I'll add some pics later of my weekend adventures. Toodles.

Totally caught!

CAUGHT UP THAT IS!! I am so excited. So, last week I finally finished B's 1 yr baby book! I can't believe it!! My next project will be to scrap my wedding album. Although, I'm not sure when I'll actually start that and don't want to think of when I'll finish. But, it's my next project.
Also done on my checklist:
1) D's Halloween goody bags for his school party
2) B's Halloween goody bags for his school party
3) Bought all the decorations for B's spiderman 3 yr bday party in two weeks
4) Made hubby some goody bags for Breast Cancer awareness month for his clients
5) Dinner is done in the crockpot

I feel relieved that I have all the Halloween stuff done already. The only thing left is to make B some cupcakes to take to school on his birthday in a few weeks. No biggie.

D is going on his first field trip on Thursday and big bummer he's going by himself! EEEEEKK! I am totally trying not to flip out. I wasn't able to get off work since his fieldtrip was rescheduled. I thought Mike was going to be able to go and now he has to go out of town for work. ..............I'm trying not to be the overly nervous nelly mom, but unfortunately I am!! I know he'll be fine just like the other 25 or so kids....but I'll be glad when I pick him up from school that day and know that he's just fine. I'm sure he'll have a good time at the pumpkin patch and pony riding.....

Oh yeah, forgot the scare alert! The other morning I was walking down the stairs carrying B and about 3 steps from the bottom I slipped. I'm not sure exactly what happened except it happened fast! I was terrified that I had broken his leg when we landed and I pinned his leg between my back and the stair. I was shaking so bad and Mike came running from the noise. Of course B was crying, but luckily he was OK. I think he was mostly scared, he never had a tear come out, just screaming. I think I was shaking for about 30 minutes afterwards. I scrapped my back and was sore for a day but ok myself too. Now both of the boys are paranoid and won't let me carry them down the stairs if I'm wearing socks. I don't blame them. We told them the socks made me slip and fall. I'm paranoid myself now and take every step very cautiously. Luckily, me and B didn't break any bones!!

Well that's all for now here in my world. Toodles.

Nice day

Dee did take a pic of Papa and Dev riding around in the tractor! Too funny, thanks for the pic!!

We had very nice fall weather today. We took the boys and all of our bikes and headed to the park. B didn't want to ride his so he just rode in the bike trailer with me pulling him. Dev rode good but tired quickly. I think all the new scenery and everything wore him out quicker. We took a picnic lunch and had a great time. Then we put D's bike up and put both boys in the trailer so we could see where some of the trails went. It was fun. I started to take some pics and then my camera said out of memory. What?? How could that be....well dummy me forgot to put the memory card in before we left. Oh well.... I did take a few on the camera but I have to figure out how to get them off. I've never done it before, so we'll see. We also saw a deer on the side of the woods before we left. B was terrified. I'm really puzzled how my total daredevil can be such a fraidy cat at so many things??
I'm also adding the link below to more of D's birthday party if you want to check them out.

Lots of rain and Lunch at school

The other day we had a terrible rainstorm and got lots and lots of rain in a short amount of time. Here is what the neighbor across the street from us yard looked like!

The other neighbors was almost worse! Luckily our yard doesn't flood like this!!

At D's school they have each grade provide lunch for the teachers and staff once a month in appreciation. This month was the preK's turn. The other room mom and I had quite the time collecting the $5 from each child to help pay. In the end we only have 4 that haven't paid yet and hopefully will next week. Anyway, the lunch turned out really good. We provided BBQ and had a western type theme. The staff loved it and really like our decorations. I think alot of times the classes do a pot luck so I think this was a little different for them. We had a great time decorating.

I borrowed a saddle from a girl at work and made little loot bags for the staff. The other mom made the banner and we had each child sign their name on the stars. I thought it turned out really cute.

When the lunch was almost over we had all the preK kids come over and take a photo on the saddle with the cowboy hat. Each kid just loved sitting on the saddle. We are going to print the pics and send home to each parent. It was alot of fun. We even got his teacher to sit for a picture also! (maybe yearbook material!)

D was out of school yesterday and my dad watched him. B was very upset in the morning knowing D was going to Papa's house and he wasnt'. So I was able to bribe him to go with me if we stopped at the store and got a doughnut on the way to school. I try not to use too much bribery but this time it was necessary, and the best part was it worked and he was just fine. D had a great time, he went to "eat with the old people" as he says. Then they ran errands and then went to dad's. He even got his own doughnut and a white pumpkin to bring home and decorate. Papa also gave him rides around the yard on the trailer behind the tractor. He showed me how much fun he had when I got there. Wish I had my camera, dad was driving the tractor and D was riding along holding a big umbrella to keep out of the sun. Too cute!!

We were going to head to the Space Center in Huntsville today but Mike's dad didn't make it in last night like we thought. We were going to make a day and go visit the rockets with the boys. His dad will be here sometime later today so we'll just hang out here and find something else to do. We'll take the boys another weekend to see the Rockets.

D's field trip to the pumpkin patch last week was cancelled due to the rain. (like in pictures above). So they rescheduled it. Of course now they are going on Thursday which is a day I work and I can't get off from work. Super Bummer!!!!!!! I am not thrilled that I will miss his very first school field trip and to a pumpkin patch at that!! I think that Mike is going to be able to go with him though, at least I really hope so. I'll have to try to talk him into taking lots of pictures too!

Only about 2 weeks till B's 3 yr birthday! I can't believe how time is flying by. It seems like just yesterday that he was just a newborn! He wants to have a Spiderman party, so that's what were doing. I might try to incorporate some Halloween fun foods in the party to correlate to Spiderman too. Well guess I better go see what all my boys are doing. Toodles for now.

A busy day yesterday, but fun

Our nearby Home Depot had a kids safety day. We stopped by and it was alot of fun. D posed with Sparky the firetruck mascot but B wanted nothing of him. He didn't even let me walk close without starting to scream like a maniac.

Then they had a little workshop where you could build your own firetruck with a wood kit. D had a great time hammering in the nails. Daddy was brave to keep his fingers within striking distance. B looked on and we brought his kit home to build another time.

The next excitement was the boys got to watch two different helicopters land. They were both in awe to see them land.

This was the closest I could get B to the helicopter. So I took what I could get.

Right before we left we were able to convince him to sit in one of the helicopters after D did.

It was alot of fun. They also had the police motorcycles, the rescue units with the jet skis and the four wheelers. The boys enjoyed seeing all the fun motorized vehicles.

After lunch we headed to Mike's birthday race gift. To make a long story short, he didn't get to race. Not yet anyway. Tim did race and Mike will go back Nov. 1st. They were in the last group and there were two big delays in the racing. First, a car ran out of gas, so they had to have everyone stop racing until they pushed the car into the pit. Then things were going smoothly until........we heard a loud crash. Yes............. a car actually crashed. Holy ........ my heart dropped. Neither one of the guys were racing but that's all I needed to have my nerves shoot through the roof even more. Luckily the guy that crashed wasn't hurt. He spun out apparently and wrecked the front of the car. Some of the workers told Mike that they haven't had a wreck all season and its' almost over. They also said it was driver error. None the less things were so delayed that it was close to dark and the track isn't lit. They were many left to race so they gave us the option to wait, with no guarantee or reschedule..so we did. The boys and my mom were with me. We had been there almost 5 hours by now. Luckily, they had a blow up bouncer that the boys spent most of the time in. So after the wreck one of the drivers backed out of racing(he looked about 80 or so and I don't blame him) so Tim was bumped up in the line. He did great and really enjoyed it.It's set up so that you follow an instructor in his car. You can let him know if you what kind of pace you want by how you follow him. Tim said it was alot of fun but he spent probably the first 6 out of 10 laps just trying to get over his nerves. He would like to do it again and I wouldn't be suprised if he does when Mike gets his turn in a month. But they people were so nice and gave the boys some free water and chips and then one of the ladies gave each boy a free tshirt for being so good the whole time. Then right before we left she told us we could bring the boys over to sit in one of the cars and take a pic. I think D was totally beside himself to be able to sit in the race car. B on the otherhand, suprise suprise wanted nothing to do with it. Oh well, maybe next time. It was a great time, but a long day.......... I think I'll let the boys stay with someone when I go the next time.

Toodles

Break time

We had a very busy and long day yesterday. Mike is gone remote control racing and the boys are asleep. I will post more later and lots of pics but for now a little me time and a few round of Rock Band!

No pics

My soccer boy scored a goal tonight at his game...:) yipee!! I was so proud and grinned ear to ear, but of course he had to do it when I didn't bring my camera. But that's OK, he was so happy for himself too and it was such a great moment! Of course his team still scored for the other team, but who cares right?
One more day till the weekend!! Saturday we're going to Mike's belated birthday gift. I bought him a driving experience on a race track. It's driving 10 laps in a Nascar race car. The boys are excited to go watch but want to know why we are not going to drive the car home...sorry boys! Mike's brother's birthday is 4 days before his and Amanda got him the same....so they both will be driving at the same time....yikes! I hope the brotherly competition doesn't get too strong! I will definetely have some pics to post and I will also post a link for more birthday pics too by the weekend.
Toodles.
