Hip hip horray!!

Well the room is almost complete minus a few additional items. Here are some pics:
BEFORE:

AFTER: ( I don't think the red head board turned out too bad...I mean it sure doesn't look professional but....once I get all his stuff back on it I think it will be just perfect) Also still waiting for the XL spiderman applique to arrive in the mail. It will go above his headboard.

I got the corner spider web in the Halloween clearance at Walgreens for $1.33...yay me!

BEFORE:

AFTER: (Still need to find a new dresser, the drawers are totally messed up now from me moving it all around..oh well it lasted 4 yrs)

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I bought a blue tub at Lowe's and just added some of the stick on appliques to make him a new clothes hamper for his room. The pic on the wall behind it is a decoration I found for a table decor for a party but I just attached it to the wall for the city scape concept.

Well that's what we have so far and he LOVED IT!! I am so happy to have it mostly done. I also bought a dark blue box for him to put his toys in. I am very pleased and I will post another pic once the giant spidey arrives for above his bed.
Otherwise we are all making it OK. D and I are taking our meds as directed and knock on wood, so far all else is well. Looks like we can still have the family party on Sunday for B's birthday! :-)
Now off to figure out what is for dinner, so glad the hubby is home from being gone for 3 days!
Toodles!
BTW, Susan, I loved the black scuffed look you suggested for the headboard...I think it's ok for now, but I will keep the idea in mind incase I start to think the red looks too cheesey! Thanks!!

More stuff

Wanted to post a few more treats I have made lately. These came out of one of the halloween cookbooks I have. I made these cutie witches when I went to my friend's yearly bonfire cookout. They were tasty treats but difficult to travel with (note to self!) Also, B pulled the wax paper and half of them tipped over before the icing was set enough to hold the hats on...but I got them back together.

Also, worked on some more cake pops from www.bakerella.com I decided to try some pumpkins and ghosts this time.

My little jack-o-laterns! How cute are they?? I thought they turned out so cute!

I then tried a few on the sticks, but one decided to cry!! hee hee...I had to fix his poor little eye! He must of known we were all going to get strep (see post below) or else that he would be eaten soon!! :-)

Well thought I had to post something fun since I've have been posting lots of boring, sickly news lately...so smile! :-)

Same story different day

Yes, D ran a low fever last night and coughed through the night so I took him back to the dr. this morning. So yes, he too has strep!! I tell ya....it's been quite a few weeks. B was sick first and now me and Dev and probably Mike. He is having some symptoms and is going to go to the dr. tomorrow! Yikes...I am ready for this to be all over with! I guess the only positive is that while me and D were home today I got to start working on B's new spidey room. I got it painted the nice blue color. It looks really good! I have left the front entrance walls yellow for the time being. I think it will look OK with the decor. I have also attempted to repaint his headboard. This will be interesting. I primed it first and I'm using some old red paint that was the color of our dining room before we moved in. It was way too red, so we had the builders re-do the dining room in eggplant. But, I still had the red paint. We shall see what happens. After two coats of red, it is still going to need another...hmmm! I was originally going to paint it black but I couldn't find my black paint, so I thought I'd do the red to match the spidey colors. If it doesn't look good I'll probably just overcoat it in black like the original plan. I hope to get a little more done in there tomorrow also, since D can't go back to school till Monday. B seems to be OK, knock on lots and lots of wood!! I ordered a large stick on the wall spidey for the wall above his bed, it shipped today so hopefully it will be here before I go back to work next Wed and I can try to have his room done by his birthday on tuesday! I was planning on having the family party on sunday but I'll have to see how everyone's sickness is by then. I don't want to infect others that's for sure!
I am excited that I got my own halloween costume together today! I can't tell of course until the day! We are having a costume contest at work. It was challenging trying to find and come up with a costume that would be cute/ cool/ and that I could work in all day and be somewhat comfy. I think it's going to be really cute! But you'll have to wait to see it till the Halloween pics! The boys already have theirs too. B is going to be a ninja and D is going to be a star wars trooper. I just hate that both of their costumes have the hard plastic masks..maybe next year I can convince them into some type of homemade one or even one without the hard plastic mask.
I guess I will be able to finish some stuff around the house tomorrow since I'm home with a sick child. I hope to get more done on the spidey room, clean up the rest of the house and watch some rented movies with the kids. Well that's all for now....toodles and hope everyone can stay away for the sickies!! I am tired of it!

Yukko!

Another interesting week! D came home from soccer Monday night not looking too good and I checked him and he had a 102 fever! So meds and off to bed. We made an appt yesterday morning to get checked just in case. He woke up without fever but I still wanted to make sure. His dr. appt turned out OK so far. Although, I also took myself because my sinuses have been going nuts and I was starting to cough. Well, go figure but it is ME that has strep! Bummer! At least I can go to work today with two doses of antibiotics in me...bummer...ha ha!
B seems to be doing well and all recovered. But I spent yesterday afternoon trying to wipe down all the door handles and lights and everything else we seem to touch, not sure it's possible but I sure tried.
So D missed his soccer game last night due to the 24 hour rule. But we got him a pumpkin instead and let him color it, that made him OK with missing soccer.
D and I went for a run yesterday . He seems to really enjoy it. I am going to sign him up for another kids run on Nov. 17th, should be fun again. I ordered B's birthday cake yesterday for his family birthday party on Sunday. He changed it and now wanted a Batman birthday so that's what we are going with. He still wants a Spiderman room so I'm working on it. I had planned to get it done this week but that has been put on hold with all the sick yuckiness. But I did manage to get the old wall paper border taken down and I took down all the decor and patched and fill holes and sanded them. We went Monday night to pick out a wall color. We are changing from yellow to the blue he picked out. I already have some spidey stuff to add to the walls and I am contemplating painting my own oversized spider web on the wall. I hope to get it painted and almost finished this weekend. I think I am going to have to get him a new dresser too. I kinda damaged the one he had trying to move it across the room by myself. The drawers won't close right and the top popped off and the bottom strip ripped off....ha! That's what I get for trying to move the CHEAPO dresser full of clothes across the room by myself!! I did take some before pics so once it's finished I will take the after and post.!
Well headed off to work. Hubby took the kids this am so I have a few extra minutes to post! Toodles and have a good day!

Good week

It has been a good week. Mike tested in TKD. He is now only 1 belt away from recommendation black belt...way to go hubby!! The video is below of him breaking two boards, but I think he could of easily done three!

We also played around with some halloween treats.

And B of course helped eat them..hee hee!

Also attempted these mini pumpkin pies from www.bakerella.com. They turned out great! Everyone loved these bite size treats.
The boys had their race today Here comes our #242 B!! He actually ran it without holding onto my leg. We were so proud!! I did have to run kinda behind him though, he kept looking back to make sure I was there. But he was so super proud of his finisher's medal.

D's race was next. He is the one in the black pants behind the girl in the pink. He did so awesome!! He came in 11th place in his 1/2 mile race. There were about 35 6-7 yr olds so I think that's pretty darn good for his first race! We are so proud of both of them!

We met with D's teacher on friday for a report card conference. She gave all good comments and said he is doing great!! He scored the highest in everything that was evaulated! Such a great job!
My sinuses keep acting up and are driving me nuts. I guess I'm going to have to break down and head to the dr. for my semi annual sinus cocktail shot, ugh!
Oh yeah, had a freak accident this week. I was loading up my car for my second run to the good will. I manipulated a baby play bouncy thing in the front seat of my car and when I shut the door.....CRACK! Yes....I ripped the rear view mirro off my windshield taking some glass with it and it cracked like a huge rock hit it....WTH!! I can't believe it happened! So...getting it replaced tomorrow! What a total bummer and freak accident. I will have to get a pic tomorrow before they replace it....so wierd and I was so mad!
Anywhoo...all is well here otherwise. The boys enjoyed seeing mimi and gran J this week also.
By the way....hey Dad....Dev keeps asking about Hazels. I guess he is wanting a big pancake breakfast...with the old people! :-)
Toodles.

Where does the time go?

Wow, time seems to be flying by so fast I can hardly keep up. I feel like I blink my eyes and another week is gone.....don't really like it at all!
The boys had their last running training last Saturday for the big race this Sunday. I am excited! D is running a 1/2 mile and B is supposed to run 100 yd dash (not sure if he will or not). Sunday I took B to his best friend Ella's birthday party. My sinuses were horrible and driving me crazy but there was no way I would have him miss this party. They have been together since first starting the daycare at about 9 weeks old and just have been the best of friends ever since! It is so cute! He had a wonderful time and he was so excited when she opened her gift and liked it! So adorable!!
Monday my hubby and I took the boys to see Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs in 3D. Mike had won free movie passes at a golf tournament so it was perfect! The boys really enjoyed the movie and so did we! It had a really cute story to it and the boys were content the whole time...nice!
B is doing so good in his TKD. He missed all of last week since he was sick. So this week his two classes were almost catch up for him but he did wonderful! I think he is almost ready to earn his next belt! I am so glad he is really enjoying it!
Dev's next soccer game is Thursday but of course it is supposed to rain! Man...can we catch a break? At least it didn't rain last week and they got to play...maybe, just maybe it will work out again! Well that's my update for now. I do have some pics to post when I can get a moment to sit down and upload them. Toodles.

Thursday!

Yeah! Only one day left till the weekend. I took the boys to the circus with mom the other day. They really enjoyed it and had a good time. Wow, I can't believe how those big elephants stand in the tripod position only on their front two legs! Amazing! The boys were a little disappointed though. I saw on the website that there would be a man shooting out of a cannon and motorcycles driving around in the large ball. Niether of the two things were there, so the boys kept asking when the man was going to shoot out of the cannon. Oh well, maybe next time! Although, B did ask me again yesterday why the cannon man wasn't there! I guess I will make sure not to make any promises next time of what will be at the circus. We still had a great time and ate cotton candy and had snow cones, whoo hoo.
D is supposed to have a soccer game tonight. It is supposed to rain and I really hope it doesn't. He has already had 3 games cancelled due to the rain!
Otherwise, kindof a lazy week.
Only two more weeks and my baby will be 4 yrs old...boo hoo! He is such a funny boy, he has us cracking up all the time. His most favorite movie at the moment is Meet the Robinsons. He has probably watched it literally 100 times and can almost recite it word for word with the characters....too funny! He wants a spiderman birthday party this year. We did spiderman last year, but if he wants it again, we will just do it again. No biggie. I am also planning on redoing his bedroom. He still has the baby nursery motiff in there so I'm planning on making it more like a big boy's room for his birthday. He also wants his room to be spiderman. So I have been checking around trying to decide what I want to do with it.
Well just a quick update...gotta get back to work...toodles.

Some of it all

We are doing a little of everything around here. B went to the dr on Friday after coughing all week and he has bronchitis. We had haircuts this morning and then tried to take him to soccer but it was outside and it irritated his bronchitis and he started coughing alot. So Mike just brought him home. Poor thing. He is feeling OK, just coughing alot. He is going to be really sad because I think he is going to have to stay home tonight and not go to my friend's fall cookout. It's going to be a little chilly and I don't want him out in the cold. Hopefully we can convince him to stay home and have some fun with daddy. hmmmm?? hope it works.
D is at his 3rd running practice today for his 1/2 mile race in a few weeks. It's going to be so cute!
Going to spend the next few hours cooking and cleaning. Going to make some cute snacks for the cookout tonight and then some goodies for our friends that are coming in town tomorrow. I will post some pics of my festive snacks.
Hoping to visit the corn maze tomorrow with the family and our friends. Hoping B will be able to tolerate the cool weather by then.
Getting really scared about my 1/2 marathon in Dec. I haven't started my true training yet! eekk!! Gotta get my butt in gear next week! I might be crawling across the finish line instead of running or even walking...hee hee. I think the 1/2 sign up is already full with max of 8000! What!!! Surely there will be some other crawlers too! ha ha!
The circus is in town on monday and tuesday. We are going to take the boys. I am really excited! I haven't been to the circus in a long time and we have never taken the boys. It will be alot of fun! Well just a short update on what we're up to here.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Toodles!

D's reward

D got a limo ride for a pizza lunch from school today for selling cookie dough.

He of course was estactic and smiling from ear to ear!

The kids had so much fun riding in the limo and eating a pizza lunch away from school. I am glad I was able to be there and join in the fun! Just thought I'd share a few pics.

Lots of celebration!

Me and D on his birthday !! The years are flying by way too fast!!

How about this hurdle jump?? It would go great with his running abilities!

Bry was excited about the decorations!

Look who's 40!!!

All three birthday boys and their cakes! And B will be next month!

We had a great weekend with birthday celebrations and family time! We also got to enjoy the wonderful homemade gumbo....mmmmm...mmmm..good!!
D has his limo ride tomorrow at school for selling cookie dough. I will be there as a chaperone so I will get to take some pics, he is very excited!!
B is getting over several days of sickness. He had fever and we did have him tested and it came back negative. He has a slight cough but seems to more back to normal today. I kept him home with me today for an extra day of recouping. I hope he keeps on the uphill and that we all don't get sick. Well that's my update...toodles.

We did it

The rain held off and we started the race off great! After abou 6 minutes of walking with mom I decided to let her finish her own race and I would run ahead to the finish line. I could tell I was messing up her strategy and talking to her too much, hee hee.

We did it! We finished the race!! We even came in 3rd place for the times for mother/daughter team! But I forgot to register us as a team so we didn't get our official reward, but that's OK we know we were 3rd! Ha....if I would of ran my normal race who knows we might of came in 2nd!! Maybe we'll try for that next year!!

Me and several girls from my work!

We had a great women's run!! Now I need to get really training for my 1/2 marathon in Dec...eeekkk!! I'm scared!!
We had a wonderful weekend with Mike's cousin and wife also. It's great to have family visit. D did wonderful at his race training, but B was another story! He was crying and clinging to my leg the whole time....not so sure why!! I will try one more practice for him and hopefully it will be better. D on the other hand did excellent. His group took off running out of sight with the coaches and returned later. He came back at the front of the pack and later told me he didn't even get out of breath!! He might just be our cross country star!!! I hope B does better next time!
Back to the grind this week! Getting ready for our big birthday weekend ahead. Mike's big 40!!, his brother's bday and Dev's bday!! We are having D's party on Sat. and then a family dinner Sat night to celebrate all 3 boys birthdays. Mike's parent's will be in town also, so it will be a great weekend again! I just have to get busy with all the final birthday party details this week.....i just might have a suprise or two up my sleeve. Mike hates suprises...and I mean hates! so i will have to have to be careful, but what's a 40th without a suprise or two right.!! I'm not worried either because he doesn't read this, so in case you are wondering why I'm talking about the suprises
:-)
Time to heat up the leftover for dinner and get ready for tomorrow.
Toodles.

eeekkkk!

Looks like we might be running in the rain for our 5K today! yuk!! Let's just hope it will hold off just a little longer, the ground is wet enough as it is after a week of rain so far.
Bry has soccer today and then both boys have their 1st training for their kid's race next month!
Also have family in town, so a fun weekend ahead!!

It was GGGRREEEEAAAATTTT!!!

We had a wonderful time in Disney! The weather wasn't too unbearabl and the lines weren't really long at all! The longest wait was 20 min. I was so suprised!! The boys totally enjoyed all the rides and so did we!! Our resort at Boardwalk was so wonderful also!! Wonderful , wonderful, wonderful! It was very relaxing actually and I wanted to stay longer. The resort pool wasn't hardly busy at all and we even got in to eat at the TRex cafe that the boys loved. They were scared at first at the roaring dinosaurs but then adjusted. We also had the wait staff sing an early happy birthday to D and he was embarrassed! It was cute but they loved the ice cream and cookie and he blew out the candle. Bry did a wonderful job as the bell ringer on our four man bike ride (really 2 since mike and I were the only pedalers). The view was great! We even got to watch the fireworks from Epcot right from the bridge at our resort...very cool! The plane rides were uneventful thank goodness and the boys did great on there as well. All in all it was such a wonderful trip! I can't wait to go back in March, we will be staying at the new Bay Lake Towers off of Contemporary resort and will have a 5 min walk to Magic Kingdom...whoo hoo!
The rest here is just the usual busy family stuff. Soccer, chores, homework, and my new spa business that is taking off nicely! I am doing a school wide spa tomorrow at D's school for the teachers and staff! I am very excited!! My goal is by the end of the month to win the diamond and topaz necklace!! I can't wait to win it and wear it!!! Oh yeah!!
Busy week ahead on top of the usual stuff. My 1/2 sis in coming in town to visit. She will be staying with my Dad, but I haven't seen her in probably almost 20 yrs....wow! That makes me old.....no I was just young then....hee hee. Also, mom and I have our women's 5 K race on Saturday and we have company coming town for the weekend. The boys also have their 1st practice for their race that will be in Oct., exciting!! sorry for the lack of posting, but I'm trying my best! I'm proud I got the Disney pics up fast though :-)
Well toodles and happy week to everyone!

Friday, September 4, 2009

oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah!!

MICKEY MOUSE HERE WE COME!! We are headed to Disney in the morning! The boys are thrilled and so are we of course! Busy week again around here but that's OK. Busy is good news!
It is supposed to be scattered showers the whole trip but oh well, I will bring the ponchos and who doesn't love splashing in puddles right.....:-)
I will have lots of pics to share when we return.
Happy Labor Day weekend to all and be safe in all you do!
Toodles.
Mickey bound!!
