Weekly recap....long post ahead

It's been a busy week around here to say the least!
Mon.- spent most of the day cleaning, some painting and doing a little of this and that. Mom came by off from work early and we left to get the boys from school. On the way I got a flat tire! What!!?? I just bought 4 NEW tires only about 3 weeks ago. It must be a mistake with the sensor in the car. We pull into the school and sure 'nuff! Tire was almost completely flat!! Hubby was out of town too....luckily the school director and another staff member graciously changed my flat in less than 10 minutes...wow I was impressed. D was not happy that I didn't come in to get him out of school to watch the tire being changed. None the less...he was kinda happy to know that "mommy popped a tire" like Lightning McQueen. Mommy wasn't happy though. So off we go to the tire place where we bought the 4 NEW tires and NOT the road hazard insurance that would cover replacement...of course not. Whatever was in my tire was a big piece of metal. So when they took the tire off to see if they could patch it, it was actually a house key stuck in my tire with the long part poked right in the center and the head of the key embedded in the treads....a pretty large hole!! I couldn't believe it!! What are the chances....I didn't have my camera with me of course but it was a sight to see. Of course it wasn't patchable and we had to buy another whole new tire.....super bummer!!
Our friends that were coming in for the holiday weekend called to cancel. They are having major car issues and won't be able to make it. I'm pretty sad about that. But so it goes.
I also was feeling pretty miserable. My sinuses were driving me crazy and my eyes were itchy, my nose running constantly and just felt yucky. D had a tball game at 7pm. Mom stayed home with B and I took D to the game. He did pretty good and paid attention fairly well this time. But I just felt horrible and it probably didn't help being outside with all the pollen floating around. After the game, I put the boys to bed and I followed to bed myself. I didn't sleep well though with constant coughing. Even with 2 benadryl on board.

Tuesday: I woke up feeling still sick. I took the boys to school and came home and got back in the bed. I only got up at 11:45 to run up to get my haircut. I felt terrible but my hairdresser was going out for surgery in 2 days and this was her only open appt. I sniffled through it and headed home to get back in bed. Slept all day until I had to get up about 3pm to head off to my orthodondist appt. Dental yuks!! I get there and feeling miserable they tell me that they lost my xray and had to take another...(.typical for my week so far) I said fine...whatever. I really didn't care I just wanted to get it over with and get home back to bed. Later we discovered that somehow they confused my last name and that was why they couldn't find the xray. They did find it after all, which was good I guess but now they just get two.

So yes I was at the orthodontist. Turns out that I still have 3 baby teeth and one of them is loose! I also have permanent teeth under all of them which is apprarently fairly rare. So options were fairly limited, but good overall according to them. As much as I don't or didn't want to proceed, it's better than the alternative. I don't want to be walking around without a tooth!! That would be a disaster!! So I opted for the other horrible scenario. Step 1: get braces. I have to say that this news was most disturbing to me! I just cried and cried when he told me. I have straight teeth, never needed braces and now you're telling me that I have to wear them....what.......are you kidding me.......!! I obviously wanted to know other options. Like maybe a dental implant or something. Well as I researched and found out. That would involve drilling a hole in my jaw bone and I was NOT about to do that!!! The braces are to spread out my already straight teeth to make room for the bigger permanent teeth! Sounds really wierd, but makes sense at the same time. Step 2: pull the baby teeth out and start to pull the permanent teeth in slowly over time with a chain attached to the braces.. sounds like torture!! This whole process will probably take about 2 years! I have done alot of thinking and as much as I don't want to do this...I really don't want to wait until the tooth or other 2 fall out and then I have to start the process from there. The situation to fix it would be the same and I'd just be starting out later and also starting out with a tooth missing....horrifying!! So............with many tears and reluctance I have decided to go ahead and start the process. I might as well do it now versus waiting and only prolonging the inevitable! It's terrible for me! I hate the dentist! I'm worried about what the outcome will be. I have straight teeth now already...will the other teeth fit in properly and will they look ok. Will my smile be different? These are all questions that he has assured me will all have a postive outcome. Of course he's positive, he's getting the money right!! I know....oh well. I'm just gonna go ahead and start the torture on June 3rd.

Wednesday: Still feeling terribly and could hardly sleep at all. Checked my temp and it was a low grade 100. I was not about to go to work feeling like this. So I called in sick. I headed to the doctors office when they opened and luckily they could see me. Strep test: negative. Chest xray: negative. But my white blood cell count was high. He said fighting off an infection, probably my sinuses. So I got my trustly shot in the booty (sinus cocktail I've had quite a few times before) and a script for some antibiotics, cough syrup and some samples of antihistamines to take. Amazing how some real drugs can make you feel better almost immediately. I slept the rest of the day away. note:Hubby out of town again.

Thursday: Slept pretty good last night myself with all the new meds on board. D though coughed most of the night. I did all my little tricks of humidifier, vicks rub and then even some cough syrup. He managed to get a little sleep but I felt like he was headed down my same path of sickness. I called Dad to see if he could come by and take him to the dr and then to school if he's not too sick. So I wouldn't have to call in again to work. He graciously agreed. Turns out he didn't get any antibiotics (which dr. mom thinks he needs) but he did get some of the "crazy" albuterol syrup. This is the same stuff that made him run circles around our living room for hours. That was a few years ago though and we opted for the inhaler last time he needed it. So we'll try this out and see how he reacts. So far after two doses he seems to be not reacting as strongly and hyper as before. I'm feeling better with still a residual cough and sinus drainage but much better than yesterday.
Our friend Doug arrived in town for his business/personal visit. The boys spent the early evening outside playing bball and driving the remote control cars. He's a friend of my husbands from way back. He was even the best man at our wedding. Boy how time flies!! We all have kids now and are getting old....too funny!
B was walking around in the kitchen and walked right into the side of our counter top. Immediately a dime size goose egg came up on the side of his head. Poor thing!! He was crying and I felt so bad for him. He was a big boy and tried to hold the ice on his head to help the swelling. I tried to take a pic (crazy I know) but his curly locks prevented a good picture of the goose egg. D kept wanting to see the "egg" It was so funny. I think he was taking us literally! But as soon as the boys started talking about going outside B was amazing all better. I was worried but he seemed to be alright. The goose egg has went down almost all the way this morning..thank goodness. I checked on him several times last night to make sure he was ok when he was sleeping.

Friday: D didn't cough quite as much last night and even slept in a little this morning. Maybe his meds are working a little too. ( I still think he needs antibiotics for his sinuses). I am progressively getting better and starting to get rid of this crud I have. Tonight D has taekwando testing for his next belt level. He is really excited about his new belt! He does really well in class when he's paying attention! We're trying to work on his attention span. He seems to get bored real easy and starts to be the class clown...uh oh! Hope it's just a phase! Headed over to see my sweet niece in the morning. Tim and Amanda have invited us over for a breakfast! Hope the weather is not rainy and we can just walk! I really like that! We don't have any real plans for this weekend now that our company cancelled. Doug leaves tomorrow am. I think we might just hang out and relax....whew! What a week!! Maybe a little grilling and hanging out in the yard. Supposed to be in the 90's. I bought a new sprinkler for the boys. The weather should be great for it! Guess that's all for now. Alot happening around here in a short time, at least it seemed that way. Happy Friday to all! Maybe a margarita tonight and a Rock Band lesson for Doug. He's never played...should be a blast!
Thanks to Mom and Dad for all the help this week. Couldn't of done it without your help! It's such a blessing to have family close by!
Toodles.
